History

Hastings & Hastings was founded by husband and wife team, Martin and Lois Kleinman. They began their careers in Personnel Consulting in 1963, owning and operating two of the most successful franchises of a National Personnel Agency in Manhattan and Brooklyn. After a decade in New York, The Kleinmans decided to leave the bustling Wall Street district for the Miami sunshine. They brought their unique knowledge and abilities to the up-and-coming South Florida business environment and opened their own Staffing Company in 1975. They named their new company after the street where they owned their first home together, Hastings Road.

Robin Kleinman Cox, the daughter of the Kleinmans, graduated from the University of Florida on a Friday in 1977 and began her over 40-year tenure in Hastings the following Monday! The company had already begun to earn its reputation for being a superb “Permanent Placement” Employment Agency. Hastings continued to grow, and in 1981, in response to numerous requests from clients for high-quality Temporaries, Hastings & Hastings Temporary Services was born. Under Robin’s direction, the company grew to become one of the largest Administrative Temporary Staffing Services in South Florida and earned the #1 spot in the South Florida Business Journal’s “Largest Executive Search Firms” in 2000.

Continuing in the family tradition, Robin’s son Lonnie Cox joined the company in 2011, making Hastings & Hastings one of the only 3rd generation, family-owned and operated Staffing Firms in the region. Lonnie is now the Director of the Temporary Division his mother created in the company his grandparents founded over 55 years ago.

From the moment the doors opened in 1963 in New York until today, Hastings & Hastings has strictly adhered to the simple philosophy of its founders . . .

“We put the heart into hiring.”

Hastings has always had its priorities in line. First, birthday cake-eating. Second, reading magazines at work. If there’s one thing to know about us, it’s that we know how to stay loose at the office in more ways than just Marty unbuttoning his collar!

Always a family-first company, Hastings was ecstatic to welcome a flurry of babies in the late 80’s and 90’s. In addition to celebrating birthdays, wedding and baby showers, and holidays together, child-oriented activities were added. Festivities included Halloween “Trick-or-Treat” parties, charitable holiday functions, and various goal events with the families,…Read More
